The Nation Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) is the governing body which oversees 1,117 collegiate sport programs in the United States. For over a hundred years the NCAA has been tasked with being the legislature, executor, and judiciary of all of college sports. But, this responsibility may not be well suited to the now billion-dollar-earning “non-profit”. The solution, however, is not clear. While many suggestions have been made surrounding what should be done, there is a consensus on a particular detail; the responsibility should no longer be left only in the hands of the NCAA. It is my opinion that the place most suited to directly address the issues scholars have with the NCAA is the federal government. The NCAA should be absorbed into the government under the Department of Education.
